Our City of Colours aims to increase the visibility of, and address the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people in a variety of linguistic and cultural communities.
We believe that many communities are under-served when it comes to LGBTQ+ resources and we wish to begin to bridge this gap. Our message is that LGBTQ people exist in all communities and we need to acknowledge and begin to talk about issues pertaining to LGBTQ+ people in these diverse communities.
We aim to work with a variety of cultural groups and encourage positive images and perceptions of LGBTQ+ people and same-sex relationships. We are committed to creating and distributing media to positively raise the profile of those who self-identify as LGBTQ+ while taking into consideration cultural and language barriers, and outreaching in languages native to these groups.
In accordance with our mission statement, we are committed to promoting the visibility of LGBTQ+ people and issues in diverse linguistic and cultural communities, and in doing so, help to mitigate the combined effects of racism and homophobia often affecting members of this demographic.
